Exhibition “Tribute to Carlo Maratti”

Exhibition “Tribute to Carlo Maratti”
Palazzo Sciarra Colonna – Permanent Collection
21 November 2025 – 12 April 2026

On the occasion of the fourth centenary of the birth of the celebrated painter Carlo Maratti (1625–1713), one of the most important figures of late 17th-century Rome, Fondazione Roma is pleased to host the exhibition “Tribute to Carlo Maratti” at the Museo del Corso–Polo Museale, in the exhibition spaces of Palazzo Sciarra Colonna, from 21 November 2025 to 12 April 2026.
Curated by Simonetta Prosperi Valenti Rodinò, the exhibition presents around 40 paintings, among which the Portrait of Gaspare Marcaccioni stands out—a masterpiece kept abroad for many years and recently brought back to Italy thanks to the commitment and sensitivity of Fondazione Roma in safeguarding the national artistic heritage.
A selection of works from the Permanent Collection of Fondazione Roma is presented alongside several paintings by the artist from prestigious national and international collections, offering the public an overall vision of the main thematic groups within Maratti’s oeuvre: portraits, sacred subjects, and Arcadian themes.
With free admission, the exhibition offers visitors to Palazzo Sciarra Colonna the opportunity to explore Carlo Maratti’s artistic qualities and the impact of his work on subsequent generations of masters and followers.
