Live music

The roots of a culture and of a music are essential to any genuine innovation and to turning one's gaze towards the future. This is the core of Radici, Ada Montellanico's new project, which draws on the origins of jazz and on the blues in its broadest musical, historical and social sense.

Radici continues the exploration Montellanico began with Abbey's Road, dedicated to Abbey Lincoln, and unfolds through a radical reinterpretation of traditional material, with ample room for free improvisation.

The unusual line-up of voice, piano and trombone creates a unique sonic alchemy, bringing together Montellanico's voice, Simone Graziano's pianism and Filippo Vignato's trombone.

The repertoire spans songs by Bessie Smith, Dinah Washington, Ida Cox, Abbey Lincoln, Carla Bley, Tracy Chapman and others, alongside original compositions written for the trio.

Radici thus looks to the past in order to question the present: its roots lie in the blues, but also in our shared humanity.
