Palazzo Sciarra Colonna – Permanent Collection
On the occasion of the fourth centenary of the birth of the celebrated painter Carlo Maratti (1625–1713), one of the most important figures of late 17th-century Rome, Fondazione Roma is pleased to host at the Museo del Corso – Museum Hub, in the exhibition spaces of Palazzo Sciarra Colonna, the exhibition “Homage to Carlo Maratti”, from 21 November 2025 to 12 April 2026.
Curated by Simonetta Prosperi Valenti Rodinò, the exhibition presents around 40 paintings, including the outstanding “Portrait of Gaspare Marcaccioni”, a masterpiece that had been kept abroad for years and has recently returned to Italy thanks to the commitment and sensitivity of Fondazione Roma to the preservation of the national artistic heritage.
A selection of works from the Fondazione Roma Permanent Collection is displayed in dialogue with paintings by the artist from prestigious national and international collections, together offering the public a comprehensive overview of the main themes in Maratti’s production: portraits, sacred subjects, and Arcadian subjects.
With free admission, the exhibition offers visitors to Palazzo Sciarra Colonna the opportunity to explore Carlo Maratti’s artistic qualities and the impact of his work on subsequent generations of masters and followers.
