Performance of the staged reading “Saint Francis Was My Son” by Maurizio Garuti, based on the book of the same title published by Minerva Editore.
The event features a performance of “Saint Francis Was My Son” by Maurizio Garuti, a monologue by the writer and playwright adapted for the stage from his recently published book of the same title by Minerva Editore.
Performed by Gabriele Marchesini, accompanied by Cristina Giorgi on live harp, and directed by Francesca Calderara, the production offers an original and engaging portrayal of Saint Francis of Assisi through the eyes of his father, Pietro di Bernardone.
The narrative traces the Saint’s youth up to his radical conversion, highlighting the dramatic confrontation with his father and the clash between their two contrasting worldviews.
This is a story that offers a fresh perspective on the Saint’s life, exploring the generational and human conflict that accompanied his decision.
