In occasion of the exhibition “From Vienna to Rome. The Wonders of the Habsburgs from the Kunsthistorisches Museum”, the Museo del Corso – Museum Hub presents a series of three lectures dedicated to exploring historical, artistic, and architectural themes related to the collections of the Habsburg dynasty and the cultural relations between Vienna and Rome.
Held in the Sala Rebecchini at Palazzo Sciarra Colonna, the meetings will offer the public an opportunity to explore the historical and cultural context of the exhibition through the contributions of scholars, art historians, and curators.
The series opens on Wednesday, 15 April 2026 at 6:00 PM with The Wonders of the Habsburgs, a lecture by exhibition curator Caecilia Bischoff, together with art historian Stefano Zuffi, dedicated to the origins of Habsburg collecting and the formation of the imperial collections that became part of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, one of the most important museums in Europe.
The second appointment will take place on Thursday, 14 May 2026, with the lecture A Universal Direction: Artistic Exchanges Between Vienna and Rome, delivered by Cecilia Mazzetti di Pietralata, Associate Professor of Modern Art History at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio. The talk will explore the artistic dialogue between the two capitals between the 16th and 18th centuries, analysing the role of relations between the Habsburg dynasty and the Papal States in the circulation of artists, artworks, and artistic models.
